A house with history
in the heart of the
Colombian Caribbean
Casa Grande 1146 is a late-19th-century house, restored in the center of San Juan Nepomuceno, deep in the Montes de María. Shaded courtyards, wicker rocking chairs and the peaceful greenery that surrounds San Juan Nepomuceno.
The house that opened its doors to the whole town
Casa Grande 1146 takes its name from the number on the original deed of this thick-walled adobe house, built in the late 19th century in the center of San Juan Nepomuceno. An example of vernacular republican architecture that has been home to the same San Juan family for generations; today it keeps its high ceilings, its carved doors and the central courtyard that always smelled of freshly brewed coffee.
We restored it room by room, protecting every original detail —floors, tall windows, archways— to turn it into Casa Grande 1146 Hostal, made for travelers looking for more than a place to sleep: a place that feels like arriving at family.
